Summary

The discovery process is an important part of litigation as it is through this that each party fully explores their own case as well as that of the opposing side. Preparing and responding to written discovery, while not glamorous, is a crucial part of the process as it provides the parties vital information which helps develop a very clear (or not so clear) picture and understanding of exactly “what happened.” In this two-part series, participants will be taught how to effectively navigate through the written discovery process to better assist the attorney with the development and implementation of a more efficient and organized discovery plan. Participants will walk away with tips, tricks and tools to help stay in charge of their discovery as well as learn how to draft and respond to discovery requests, obtain useful information, manage documents, discover essential facts of the case, learn to handle disputes arising out of discovery responses and figure out what to do with the information received – not just information helpful to your own position, but also that which is harmful. Don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to gain experience and build confidence in this critical area of the discovery process.
