Attorney members are welcome to attend and participate in Education, Membership, Public Affairs and New Lawyer Committees and programs.
Diversity & Inclusion Committee
The CAALA Diversity Committee strives to promote diversity among the organization’s membership and in leadership, and foster alliances among all minority bar associations. The Committee aims to promote fairness and inclusion, mentorship, promote diversity among its membership, and encourage acceptance of diversity among the plaintiff’s bar such that no member feels disenfranchised among us. Education Committee
The Education Committee coordinates all MCLE programs for the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, including the Annual Las Vegas Convention. The committee meets regularly to develop new and cutting edge programs for the membership. Volunteers should be willing to devote time for substantive review and discussion, however, speaking spots are not guaranteed. Finance Committee
Per the CAALA Investment Policy, review the CAALA investment portfolio and report to the Executive Committee any issues or concerns. Law Student Outreach Committee
Identify the needs of law students and outline ways CAALA can assist with their professional development. Serve as representatives between the CAALA community and local law schools. Legal Support Committee
CAALA Legal Staff membership provides access to programs and benefits exclusively for our legal staff members including the Legal Staff List Serve. Upcoming programming includes the legal staff education track during CAALA Vegas. For more information contact Jordan Smith, Project Manager,
Legislative Affairs Committee
Determine what legislation our members would like proposed and pursued, using the CAOC and AAJ criteria, to better represent their clients and protect the rights of consumers. Coordinate CAALA resources to assist in the support of pro-consumer and civil justice legislation and to defeat legislation intended to inact some aspect of tort reform or other anti-civil justice purpose. List Serve Committee
Monitor and reinforce the primary purpose of the List Serves as a way to confidentially exchange important information and advice with each other relating to trial tactics, strategy and other attorney workproduct information. For more information contact Liz Hagan, Membership Director,
Membership Committee
Volunteers are needed to devote an hour or two a month to help build and strengthen the association through member recruitment and retention campaigns, expansion of the member benefit program, mentor program and more. Political Affairs Committee
The CAALA Public Affairs Committee provide a forum for members to educate the public, the media and elected officials about who trial lawyers are, what they do and what they believe in.  The Committee combines Government Relations, Public Relations and Community Relations. Under the leadership of Committee Chair Ibiere Seck and Vice Chair Geraldine Weiss, the Public Affairs Committee welcomes all CAALA members interested in supporting the Committee's important mission. Wellness Committee
CAALA provides resources, information and education to make our members better trial lawyers.
