Randy H. McMurray was CAALA’s 60th President and the first African-American President. His verdicts and settlements have set records and changed police practices and procedures regarding the handling of the mentally ill for three different cities, the handing of juvenile detainees with medical illnesses in all L.A. County facilities, hospital policies in all County hospitals, cross walks at elementary schools, treatment of team members involved in door-to-door magazine sales among many other things. Mr. McMurray was a named partner and Managing Partner in The Cochran Firm, Los Angeles for 13 years. His partners included the late Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr. He has earned the AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell and has been so rated for over a decade. Mr. McMurray’s practice areas include government entity liability, police misconduct, business fraud, medical and professional liability, road design, products liability, and other catastrophic personal injury litigation. He has published articles and has been an invited speaker for AAJ, CAOC, CAALA, Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, Colorado Trial Lawyers, Mealey Publications and many other prestigious organizations. Mr. McMurray earned his B.A. degree at California Polytechnic University in Pomona, California with a major in Political Science. He attended Southwestern University School of Law where he was a member of two National Moot Honors winning teams and Mock Trial Team.
