As the city revels in the Dodgers’ World Series Championship, many of us celebrate their victory and the euphoria that follows. Our team has now been crowned world champions twice in this decade. Freddie Freeman overcame a serious ankle injury to lead the Dodgers to the championship, hitting six home runs in consecutive games of the World Series. Shohei Ohtani tasted the postseason for the first time and is now a champion. Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitched like a veteran in his first year in MLB. Walker Buehler bounced back from two Tommy John surgeries to close out Game 5 on one days' rest. Dave Roberts made all the right substitutions and pitching changes. The city got the parade it deserves. The Dodgers are comprised of players from different backgrounds, nationalities, origins, religions, and creeds, and they won as a team. Every player contributed to the victory.

Governor Gavin Newsom announced his nomination of three Court of Appeal Justices: Justice Brian M. Hoffstadt, of Los Angeles, as Presiding Justice of the Second District Court of Appeal, Division Five; Judge Michelle C. Kim, of Los Angeles, as an Associate Justice of the Second District Court of Appeal, Division One; and Judge Anne K. Richardson, of Los Angeles, as an Associate Justice of the Second District Court of Appeal, Division Two.

The Governor also announced his appointment of 7 Superior Court Judges, which include two in Los Angeles County; Elizabeth L. Bradley, of Los Angeles County, has been appointed to serve as a Judge in the Los Angeles County Superior Court and Sally Espinoza, of Sacramento County, has been appointed to serve as a Judge in the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

Every year our Membership Committee conducts an audit to make sure that our CAALA attorney members all qualify for membership to protect the integrity of the list serve and ensures that only those who are eligible are CAALA members.
